MovieCrow Box Office Report - July 1 to 3

Sibiraj's horror comedy, Jackson Durai and Samuthirakani's Appa released last weekend to mixed reviews, while Shaam's Melliya Kodu received no attention whatsoever. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Jackson Durai

Jackson Durai happens to be Sibiraj's turn to act in a horror comedy film. Although the movie didn't open to encouraging reviews, thanks to the pre-release buzz and lack of options, the film took a good opening.

2. Appa

Although Samuthirakani's Appa have noble intentions, critics and movie buffs unanimously claim that the movie is way too preachy. It'd be difficult for the movie to sustain at the box office with mixed word of mouth.

3. Metro

Thanks to appreciations from celebrities and good reviews, Metro managed to hold on to sizeable number of screens during its second weekend. However, the occupancy level dipped sharply.

Other Movies

Shaam's Melliya Kodu was overlooked by the movie buffs and critics, while GV Prakash's Enakku Innoru Per Irukku was screened across a few screens in the city. Last week's releases Amma Kanakku and Raja Madhiri sank without a trace.

Upcoming week's releases

Santhanam's Dhillukku Dhuddu will be hitting the screens on July 7.
