Superstar actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have held mutual admiration and respect for one another over the years and the same was reflected recently when Rajini took to twitter to congratulate the Bollywood Shehanshah on his Dadasaheb Phalke Award win. 

Rajinikanth wrote a congratulatory post for Big B on Tuesday night where he said, "Congratulations dear @SrBachchan ji!!! You richly deserve this commendable honour!!!! #DadaSahebPhalkeAward." Union minister Prakash Javadekar made the big announcement on twitter stating,

"The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him. @narendramodi @SrBachchan"

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony and the award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of ₹1,000,000.
