MovieCrow Box Office Report - July 10 to 12
SS Rajamouli's Baahubali took the box office by storm last weekend, and the movie was raved by the audience and critics for being a grand visual spectacle. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend:
Both the Tamil and Telugu versions of Baahubali took a blockbuster opening, and their combined gross for the weekend in Tamil Nadu had crossed Rs 15 crore. In spite of slightly mixed reviews, the movie is expected to become a runaway hit, thanks to the team's stunning efforts.
Kamal Haasan's Papanasam was rock solid in its second weekend, and the positive reviews made sure that the fans gave adequate support for the movie, in spite of Baahubali craze. This week would be crucial for Papanasam, as it could turn out to be a hit with consistent occupancy levels.
Vishnu Vishal's Indru Netru Naalai was sadly caught in the overwhelming storm created by Baahubali and Papanasam. Even though the multiplexes gave adequate screens to the film, the single screens replaced the movie with the latest biggies.
Movies like Kaaka Muttai, Romeo Juliet and Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka were running across a couple of screens each, while Vivek's Palakattu Madhavan sank without a trace.
Upcoming week's releases
Dhanush's Maari will be hitting the screens on July 17, and Simbu's long-pending Vaalu might also join the race if the court gives the green signal.
