Why the title of the movie is named 3?

Everybody who had watched 3 is wondering why the movie has been named "3". Atleast a dozen reasons have been mentioned so far. Most obvious one is because it covers 3 phases of love life. Another twisted school of thought is the life of 3 people - Shruti and bipolar Dhanushs(2). Yet another interesting opinion is that the 3 times Dhanush talks about his life matter to his father. Some observant viewers say it is because Dhanush attempts to cut himself twice and succeeds the third time.
