Financier and distributor Tiruppur Subramaniam has weighed in on the prolonged wait for Ajith Kumar's next film announcement, suggesting that the delay may have less to do with his motorsport commitments and more to do with a remuneration standoff between the actor and Tamil cinema's major production houses.
Speaking to the Fine Time Cine YouTube channel, Subramaniam said Ajith's pay expectations currently outpace what most producers are willing to commit, naming Red Giant Studios, AGS Entertainments, Sun Pictures and Vels Entertainments as banners that are increasingly favouring profit-sharing arrangements over high fixed fees. Trade reports have placed Ajith's expected remuneration in the Rs 110-120 crore range, though neither the actor nor his team has addressed this publicly.
Subramaniam suggested that Ajith could consider shifting to a profit-sharing model if he wishes to do more films, adding that the actor is otherwise financially comfortable through racing and endorsements. "If he chooses profit-sharing with production houses he likes, Tamil cinema may at least get two or three big films from him," he said.
Ajith was last seen in Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly in 2025. His reunion with Good Bad Ugly director Adhik Ravichandran for AK64 was announced but has yet to progress further.
