CM Vijay's Divorce Case Posted to August 7 by Chengalpattu Mahila Court

The divorce proceedings between Chief Minister Vijay and his estranged wife Sankgeetha Sornalingam saw another development on Monday, with the Chengalpattu Mahila Court adjourning the matter to August 7. The case came up for hearing around 10.30 am, but no substantive order was passed, and the matter was posted for a later date.

The legal dispute stems from a petition filed earlier this year by Sankgeetha seeking dissolution of the marriage. The case was initially scheduled for an April hearing before being adjourned multiple times, including an instance where neither party appeared in court, leading to fresh directions for the matter to be taken up again.

In her petition, Sankgeetha is said to have raised concerns over the breakdown of the marriage along with several personal allegations against Vijay, all of which remain part of ongoing proceedings and have not been independently verified.

Separately, in March, Sankgeetha had approached the Chengalpattu District Court seeking interim residential relief, requesting permission to continue staying at the family's Neelankarai residence until the divorce is finalised or alternate accommodation is arranged. She stated that she did not own a residence in Chennai, was living in London as a British citizen, and had spent the course of the marriage managing the household.

In recent weeks, reports have suggested that discussions may be underway regarding a possible settlement between the two parties, though neither side has officially confirmed this.

Vijay and Sankgeetha have been married for over two decades and share two children, Jason Sanjay and Dhivya Sasha. The couple's relationship has largely remained private despite Vijay's public profile.
