Three weeks in and past Rs 300 crore, Karuppu continues its remarkable run. But a fresh revelation has added a new talking point: actor Arya had filmed a cameo for the film that never made the final cut.
Editor Kalaivanan confirmed in a recent interview that several small cameos were edited out, including appearances by the Doctor brothers Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshmanan, a GOAT reference, and scenes featuring Arya. He noted that Arya's deleted scene was among the longer ones in the footage and would be released separately as part of the deleted scenes. "We did not do major changes to the footage but we did edit out a few small cameos with 20 to 30 seconds of on-screen appearances," he explained.
Karuppu features Suriya as a guardian deity who descends to Earth to help a distressed family, only to find himself taking on a deeply corrupt legal system. Following the film's success, Suriya gifted Batman edition Mahindra BE6 cars to editor Kalaivanan, cinematographer GK Vishnu, and composer Sai Abhyankkar.
Arya meanwhile is awaiting the June 25 release of Ananthan Kaadu, directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, with Pa Ranjith's Vettuvam and Sarpatta Parambarai 2 also in the pipeline.
