Thalaivar 171 (tentative title) is director Lokesh Kanagaraj's sixth full length feature film, and the movie starring 'Superstar' Rajinikanth in the lead is currently gearing up for a title reveal on April 22, 2024 [Monday]. The first look of Rajinikanth from Thalaivar 171 hinted at 'gold' being a major element in the movie, and buzz also is suggestive of Eagle*/ Kazhugu being a possible title for the film. 

* - In July, 2023 Rajinikanth attending the Jailer audio launch event told a story about crows and eagles on stage, stating that one should fly steady above negativity just like an eagle. This lead to a social media uproar accusing Rajinikanth of branding actor Vijay, as the crow in the story.

 

Till January 2024, when Rajinikanth explicitly clarified that this wasn't the case at the Lal Salaam audio launch, fans of both actors feuded on social media branding each other as 'Kaakas' (crows) and 'Kazhugus' (eagles) in a disparaging manner.

 

Another latest update on Thalaivar 171 is that the movie's story takes place within a day. Events of director Lokesh Kanagaraj's movie taking place with single day or night isn't new, and has been witnessed before in Kaithi (2019) starring Karthi in the lead. 

Lokesh Kanagaraj has said that Rajinikanth will be seen in a never-before-seen avatar in Thalaivar 171, which has Anirudh for music, Anbariv for stunts and Master Sandy for choreography. The movie is a production venture of Sun Pictures.
