If buzz in the trade is anything to go by, then the sequel to 2010 Tamil comedy hit Boss Engira Bhaskaran is all set to go on floors soon. Boss 2 which will see the return of actors Arya and Santhanam under M. Rajesh's direction is said to begin shooting from September, 2023. An official confirmation on the same is however awaited.

In September last year, actor Arya was quoted in the media about Boss 2 as stating, "We are looking at scripts that can be a winner. We cannot afford to do a mokkai (meh) film. It has to come together organically."

Boss Engira Bhaskaran revolved around a young happy-go-lucky man named Bhaskaran (Arya), who is unemployed and neglectful of his career and future. He tries to change that when he falls in love with the sister (Nayanthara) of his brother's new bride. Bhaskaran's friend 'Thala Thalapathi' Nallathambi (Santhanam) gets forcibly involved in his journey, and how the duo make Bhaskaran succeed in life is told in a comic manner. 

The movie also popularized the term 'Nanbenda' (meaning That's my friend) in Tamil pop culture. It remains to be seen if Boss 2 will be a spiritual sequel or a direct one.
