3 Non-Regional films with minimal buzz that made a mark at Chennai City Box Office

Chennai has always been a hub of film buffs, where any regional movies irrespective of who the actors and technicians are have managed to steal the spotlights. In particular, the June-July month has been a special exemplification with three non-Tamil movies having a successful run in Chennai Box Office for nearly a month. The first one is Hindi Movie Kabir Singh featuring Shahid Kapoor in lead role. It is noteworthy that the original version ‘Arjun Reddy’ too had a tremendous reception in Chennai and that was the time when Vijay Devarakonda was a new face to Tamil audiences. Similarly, it’s been a long time Shahid Kapoor delivered a hit and last time, his movie became sensational in the city was Jab We Met followed by Kaminey. Kabir Singh was released on June 21 and is still having a good show with collections reported to be around 1.5Cr approximately.

On the other hand, Ayushmann Khurana’s Article 15 that was released on June 28 turned to be a surprise winner out here with a box office collection of 55 Lacs approximately. The initial days of release had an average crowd, but with the good word of mouth publicity, it soon witnessed jam packed shows. Thanks to the English subtitles; this became an additional source of drawing crowds to the theatres.

Of course, Malayalam movies have always been welcomed wholeheartedly by Chennaites.  This season, it’s about Tovino Thomas’ Luca becoming the cherry-pick that was released on June 28. The film is completing its run of almost a month in the city. The film’s unconventional plot of blending romance, mystery and thriller together drew everyone’s interest. Additionally, the songs that are beautifully composed and colorfully shot have become the most loved choice on YouTube as well.
