Seethakaathi or 96: Which Vijay Sethupathi film is releasing on Oct 5?

 

A while ago, talks within the film circle suggested that Vijay Sethupathi starrer Seethakaathi in which he plays a 75 year old theater artiste will be hitting theater screens on October 5, 2018. Now, it is being said that the reserved date might be utilized for Vijay Sethupathi's other film 96, which was earlier expected to release during Vinayagar Chathurthi but is not. 

Since there has been no official announcement from either of the films' makers, it is difficult to say which movie will see the light of the day.
 
96 the film is directed by cinematographer turned director Prem Kumar and is about two long-lost lovers trying to find closure for their break-up when they meet during a school reunion. The movie stars Trisha as the female lead. Seethakaathi on the other hand is about the challenges artistes face in  today's world and is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan.
