The release date of 96 The Movie has been post-poned from September 7, 2018. An official announcement on the new release date is awaited and sources suggest that the film may be back to clashing with Seema Raja at the box-office (September 13, 2018).

Recently, we had reported about the Vinayagar Chaturthi weekend getting as many as four film releases - Seema Raja, 96, U Turn and Naragasoran.

However, this was followed by speculations that 96 - the movie starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan might opt for an earlier release on September 7, 2018 and now sources close to the film's unit have confirmed the same to MovieCrow. Sources also add that the decision was taken following the positive response to the film's music and trailer and also because the earlier suggested holiday slot was getting too crowded.

96 the film is directed by debutant Prem Kumar who was earlier a cinematographer (Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom) and has music by Govind Vasantha, cinematography by Mahendiran Jayaraju and N. Shanmuga Sundaram and edits by R. Govindaraj. The film is produced by S. Nathanagopal of Madras Enterprises.
