The makers of Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha starrer 96 movie have announced that the film will be releasing on September 13 for the Vinayaka Chathurthi weekend. The film will be clashing with Siva Karthikeyan, Samantha starrer Seema Raja which is also scheduled for release on the same date. Interestingly Siva Karthikeyan's Remo and Vijay Sethupathi's Rekka also clashed at the Box Office in 2016. Also Samantha starrer mystery thriller film 'U Turn' is also slated for release on September 13, 2018.

96 movie is directed by C. Prem Kumar who has handled the camera for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. The audio and trailer of the film will be launched on August 24. 96 will be Vijay Sethupathi's third release this year after 'Oru Nalla Naal Pathu Solren' and recently released 'Junga'. 

96 is a love story that unfolds in class 12. The title refers to the year of a school batch. The teaser of the film has received overwhelming response from the critics and audience. The first single Kaathalae Kaathalae (song which featured in the teaser) has also received good response among the audience. Music by Govind Vasantha. The film is produced by Madras Enterprises.
