MovieCrow Box Office Report - August 28 to 30

Jayam Ravi's Thani Oruvan, directed by his brother Jayam Raja has been the talk of the town since last weekend. Vikranth's Thakka Thakka and Jeevan's Adhibar had also hit the screens on August 28. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Thani Oruvan

Although the movie took a moderate opening on Friday, there was mad rush for the tickets on Saturday and Sunday, thanks to exceptional word of mouth. Touted as the best film of 'Jayam' brothers, the movie is expected to become a super hit. Arvind Swami's villain act is being raved by the critics and audience alike.

2. VSOP

Arya - Santhanam's VSOP did lose out a chunk of screens, but managed to attract audience to the theatres, especially multiplexes. However, the common verdict is that director Rajesh needs to come out from monotonous screenplays.

3. Baahubali

Baahubali was still running across a handful of screens after completing its 50th day at the box office. Truly, the biggest blockbuster this year.

4. Vaalu

From its previous first position, Vaalu slid down sharply to fourth position last weekend. Barring the fact that Vaalu broke the long hiatus of Simbu, the movie could not make a huge impact.

Other Movies

Vikranth's Thakka Thakka received negative reviews and the opening was also disappointing. Jeevan's Athibar sank without a trace, without any support from media and audience.

Upcoming week's releases

Vishal's Paayum Puli will be hitting the screens on September 4, along with few lesser known films.
