Moviecrow Box Office Report - May 29 to 31
Suriya's Masss, directed by Venkat Prabhu, took the box office by storm last weekend, while Demonte Colony and 36 Vayadhinile consolidated steadily, thanks to positive buzz surrounding them. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.
1. Masss
After the debacle of Anjaan, Masss has come as a huge relief for Suriya and his fans. The movie opened to positive reviews and housefull shows, and it has managed to satisfy majority of the audience as well. It would be interesting to see how the movie performs this week at the box office after the initial opening buzz fades away.
Arulnithi's Demonte Colony held on to most of the screens in its second weekend. The intelligent screenplay has worked in the movie's favour and it is expected to become a sleeper hit.
Nothing could stop Jyothika's comeback film in its third weekend. Jyothika's charming performance continues to attract the family audience to multiplexes. A clean family entertainer after a long time indeed!
Other Movies
Purampokku and India Pakistan were running across limited number of screens, and they have turned out as disappointments for the trade. Vai Raja Vai, Uttama Villain and OK Kanmani were hanging on to just a couple of screens.
Upcoming week's releases
National award winning film, Kaaka Muttai will be hitting the screens on June 5.
