With Mahesh Babu's Dookudu becoming the highest revenue generating Telugu movie in Chennai, Businessman has created a lot of expectations in Tamil Nadu. Suriya and Karthi's Studio Green bought the Tamil rights for Business Man. Historically, Tamil film makers have always paid special attention to Mahesh Babu movie because of the remake potential. 

One of the popular Telugu reviewers mentioned that Puri Jagan (of Pokiri fame) has introduced new format with this film where the dependence is more on dialogues and characterization and less on story, dramatics or a separate comedy track. Another reviewer termed the movie as a mindless action entertainer with Mahesh Babu taking centre stage with his terrific presence. He makes the character look so easy. The film is packed with a lot of dialogues, acting both as strength and weakness. The dialogues are received well by certain sections of the audience. Kajal Aggarwal looks gorgeous, not much to speak about her performance as she has little scope for it. Other characters are apt and have stuck to their job. Music director Thaman is an asset to this movie, his background score and instrumentation has been appreciated.
