An urgent plea has reportedly been raised in the Madras High Court seeking a ban on the release of Dhurandhar The Revenge in Tamil Nadu.
The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan, with the petitioner arguing that the film deals with political themes and should not be released while the Model Code of Conduct is in force ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The bench has directed the petitioner to file a formal writ petition and seek an urgent hearing thereafter.
The development comes at a time when Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, has also been referred to the Election Commission of India for review due to its political content amid the same election period.
Set against the backdrop of Karachi’s Lyari region, Dhurandhar The Revenge blends fictional storytelling with real-world events, following the transformation of its lead character within the underworld.
