With Vijay's swansong Jana Nayagan locking in a July 23 release, its scale and box-office weight have set off a chain reaction of postponements among other Tamil films slated for that window.

The announcement came Wednesday after a long wait, and almost immediately, other releases began shuffling their dates. GV Prakash's Immortal, also originally eyeing July 23, has now been moved to September 4. Keerthy Suresh's Sathyavan Savithiri, which had July 24 pencilled in, is also widely expected to be pushed back. The following week was set to see both Sigma (directed by Jason Sanjay) and DC (directed by Arun Matheswaran) hit screens.

On Thursday, the DC team confirmed their own shift — moving the film from July 31 to August 7. Along with the new date, the announcement poster revealed the film has received an 'A' certificate from the CBFC. Headlined by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, the film also features Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Avinash Raghudevan.

DC marks Arun Matheswaran's fourth directorial, following Rocky (2021), Saani Kaayidham (2022), and Captain Miller (2024). Backed by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Mukesh G, editing by GK Prasanna, and stunt choreography by PC Stunts.
