TN 2026 Team Denies Vijay, TVK Links; Calls Film 'Purely Fictional'

Following speculation that TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram draws inspiration from actor Vijay’s political journey and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the film’s team has clarified that the project has no connection to any real-life political movement.

At a recent press interaction, actors Natty Natraj and Thambi Ramaiah stated that the film was conceived much earlier, with the script written nearly a year ago and shooting completed two months back. They noted that any resemblance to recent political events is purely coincidental.

Addressing the “spoof” angle, Thambi Ramaiah explained that the film revolves around a mass hero who, despite fame and wealth, aspires to gain political power. He described it as a commercial entertainer packed with humour and repeat-value moments, and not a political commentary.

Natty, who plays the lead, revealed that his character underwent multiple design changes. While an early look drew inspiration from a political figure, it was altered to avoid resemblance. However, the final look unintentionally reminded audiences of Vijay, leading to the ongoing comparisons.

Director Umapathy S. Ramaiah also reiterated that the teaser reflects only a small portion of the film and that the narrative does not target or criticise any individual or party. Emphasising that the film is meant purely for entertainment, the team urged audiences to reserve judgment until watching the full film. TN 2026 – Thanga Natchathiram is set to release in theatres on April 10.
