Kaantha written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj is an upcoming Tamil language period drama thriller, which is produced and headlined by Malayalam star actor Dulquer Salmaan. Kaantha's trailer announcement video was unveiled on Tuesday, in Tamil (view above) and Telugu (view below) languages. 

Kaantha's trailer releases on November 6, 2025 (Thursday), while the trailer announcement video gave us the 'first spark' of the film which is set in 1950s Madras. Kaantha revolves around a legendary director in the Tamil film industry named Ayya (Samuthirakani), and his strained friendship with Chandran (Dulquer), a movie star he helped establish.

What happens when Chandran renames a female-focused film production that was previously called "Shaantha" to suit his own image, "Kaantha," is what forms the rest of the story. Kaantha also stars Bhagyashri Borse as Kumari, film's other producer Rana Daggubati, Bijesh Nagesh, among others. 

The film is backed by the banners Spirit Media, and Wayfarer Films, and has Jhanu Chanthar for music. Kaantha releases on November 14, 2025 in Tamil, along with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
