'Evolution of Amaran' episode 5 reveals why Sivakarthikeyan among all the Kollywood actors was chosen to play the late Major Mukund, and what Mukund's surviving wife Indhu thinks of Sivakarthikeyan's casting.
Director Rajkumar Periyasamy on casting Sivakarthikeyan for Mukund Varadarajan's role: "Sivakarthikeyan by nature has respect for service men. A hero has to like the job and come in. They have to be not just ok but enthusiastic about the locations we'll be shooting in, the conditions we'll be filming in. I have known Sivakarthikeyan for a while now. I knew he had that spirit in him."
Rajkumar Periyasamy revealing the reason for casting Sivakarthikeyan in Amaran, "After I got the rights to Mukund V's story from Indhu Rebecca Varghese, she had a request. Major Mukund's Tamil devotion was relentless. There was a need for a Tamil, a Tamil hero, someone with Tamil roots. Sivakarthikeyan fit all these parameters."
Amaran Reel Vs Real: Top - Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Bottom: Major Mukund Varadarajan, Indhu Rebecca Varghese
Indhu Rebecca Varghese's reaction to Sivakarthikeyan playing Mukund Varadarajan in Amaran: "When it came to Mukund, it was a very hard choice for me. I still can't figure out anyone who can do justice to him because Mukund's very different for me. But I think SK sir is the best choice. At this point of time having seen the trailer, having seen show committed he is to the role, I can say without a doubt that he will do a lot of justice to Mukund's role, and be able to represent Mukund the best."
Sivakarthikeyan on why he agreed to play Major Mukund Varadarajan in Amaran: "I did not agree to do Amaran the film just for Mr. Major Mukund's ground operations, his acheivements or just that action. He is an amazing human by personality. And a true leader in all sense, be it the way he embraced the family and moved, or the way he organized his team in his ground operations. He did both equally and in correct measures. I liked that character (of Mukund V's) very much. I have thought a lot about how I should be like that. It's very very tough. But I think I should try for that."
