Jigarthanda DoubleX: Karthik Subbaraj shuts down Nimisha Sajayan slander!

Jigarthanda DoubleX director Karthik Subbaraj recently shut down a press reporter in real time, when the journo called the film's female lead 'not that beautiful'. Malayalam film actress Nimisha Sajayan who made a remarkable Tamil debut with Chiththa this year, had a tribal character to play in Karthik Subbaraj's film and she was seen alongside names like Raghava Lawrence (as his wife) and SJ Suryah.

During a press meet post the film's critical and commercial success, a reporter while backhandedly complimenting Nimisha's acting took a dig at her "beauty". The expressions of Jigarthanda DoubleX director Karthik Subbaraj and lead actors Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah went stiff at this statement.

Subbaraj quite promptly condemned the question with, "How can you say (someone's) not beautiful? I don't know I guess it  is your mindset. Because you can't tell anyone like 'they aren't beautiful'. That in itself is an overt physical judgement" (claps can be heard for this). 

Jigarthanda DoubleX music composer Santhosh Narayanan later addressed the incident on social media and called out the standards in journalism, and the levels to which they are stooping to sensationalize a press interaction. Karthik Subbaraj further added about Nimisha Sajayan,

 

"I saw that she (Nimisha Sajayan) is a great performer in The Great Indian Kitchen film (2021 Malayalam movie). For this character..I required a great performer who could keep multitudes of emotions inside..She pulled off (Jigarthanda DoubleX) performance very effortlessly. There wasn't even an audition for her. I was very confident that she would do it, and even on spot she was terrific. "
