While earlier it was expected that Dhanush starrer Thiruchitrambalam will be releasing for the actor's birthday, an official announcement confirms that the film will be hitting theater screens 21 days later i.e. on August 18, 2022 (Thursday). Thiruchitrambalam is Dhanush's fourth movie with director Mithran Jawahar and is produced by Sun Pictures.

The film will see Dhanush play a food delivery executive alongside Raashi Khanna as his former classmate, Nithya Menen as his best friend, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bharathiraja as his grandfather, Prakash Raj as a police inspector among others. 

Thiruchitrambalam is also Dhanush's first release in theaters since Karnan in April, 2021. The actor has had three direct OTT releases namely Jagame Thandhiram (Netflix), Atrangi Re (Disney Plus Hotstar) and Maaran (Disney Plus Hotstar) since then.
