For someone who never underwent a formal training in music, Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK sure captured a lot of ears and hearts with his voice. A Malayali by ethnicity, KK was born and raised at Delhi and got his first break into playback singing through the Tamil movie Kadhal Desam (1996), which had music by A.R. Rahman.

 

Following Kalluri Saalai and Hello Doctor in Kadhal Desam, KK sang Strawberry Kanney for AR Rahman also for a Tamil movie titled Minsara Kanavu (1997). Composer Ismail Darbar gave KK his first Bollywood break in 1999 through the iconic Tadap Tadap Ke song from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The same year KK teamed up with Sony Music South for his album Pal, the title track of which would later become synonymous with the singer. 

 

KK who breathed his last on May 31, 2022, has worked with a music directors throughout India and has recorded a ton of songs in all South Indian languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Here are some of the KK's Tamil recordings that to this day are revisited by avid music listeners.
