Is Vijay's Master getting postponed!?

As Vijay's Master gears up for an audio launch in two days [March 15, 2020], word on the movie is that the film might get pushed from its anticipated release date of April 9, 2020. While team Master is yet to officially announce a release date [Indian censor laws prohibit the same until the time a film passes certification], worldwide theater business have pegged the Vijay starrer to make use of the Tamil New Year/ Easter weekend.

One of the main reasons for the film's yet-to-be-announced postponement is the pandemic corona COVID-19 outbreak worldwide. While the Indian state of Kerala [one of Vijay's strongest markets outside Tamil Nadu] is already facing a theater shut-down till the end of this month, there is no guarantee on when the theaters will re-open. Also Malayalam movies slated for March release will be given priority dates upon the theaters' re-opening in the state.

Overseas locations, where Vijay's movies have been consistently doing million dollars worth business like USA, UK and France have seen a pause in the movie releases, as the coronavirus scare gets worse in those regions. With both Indian and International films [Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi, Vin Diesel's Fast and Furious 9: The Fast Saga, Emily Blunt's Quiet Place 2 and Disney's Mulanpushing their March, April release dates indefinitely, it is only natural to expect the same from Master as well.

Besides, it is expected that owing to the dis-satisfaction with the growing local body taxes, a section of the film distributors and exhibitors in Tamil Nadu will be going on a strike starting March 27, 2020, causing movie theaters in the state to shut-down as well. This might be an added dampener to Master, should it decide to release on its expected date of April 9.
