Earlier this month, subtitlist rekhs who had provided subs for the Tamil and Telugu versions of Rajinikanth's 2.0 had accused Lyca Productions of defaulting on her due payment. Her posts on twitter gained traction with many coming out in her support and Lyca finally responded to the allegations on August 28, 2019.
In their statement, Lyca had said, “Lyca Productions allots a budget of Rs 50,000 for subtitling..This is because, we have in-house facilities to complete the technical process to delivery. Ms Rekhs demanded 2 lakhs for subtitling the film 2.0, which was not agreeable to us. Out of her own free will, she completed the work and said we could discuss the compensation later. She had reached out subsequently, but the rate she expected was not acceptable by us."
Accusing rekhs of trying to defame the production house, Lyca added, "We as a production house do not default on payments, we only negotiate as per normal trade practice. This outburst to the media, has been with the sole intention to defame us..Since this has been made public, we would like to state on record that we are ready to settle the amount of Rs 1 lakh.” [Full statement here]
rekhs on her end stated to the media asking, “How could I have started work if they hadn’t agreed to my terms and given me access to the reels?..Who was that person who they claim had reached out to me? Someone who is no longer associated with Lyca reached out to me saying I should settle for Rs 1 lakh. Is this way of reaching out to me?”
rekhs has also responded to each and every claim of Lyca's on twitter before finally concluding,
"Can't keep going back and forth for monies legitimately due. I took to twitter because i sincerely believed that the big bosses may not be aware of what's happening at grass root level. But looking at Lyca's tweet from Lyca's official handle makes me wonder if it has been tweeted with their consent..
So with great humility and a big smile, I submit ON RECORD, that i DON'T WANT you (Lyca) to pay a NAYA PAISA of the legitimately due Rs. 2.05 lakhs to rekkhs. Add it to your crores of rupees of profit and be happy.."
