Madras HC issues order against a Marathi film for copying Dhanush's VIP!

A Marathi film by the name Majha Naav Shivaji has come under the scrutiny of Madras High Court on a copyright infringement case. The trailer and posters of the Marathi film depict an alarmingly close resemblance to Dhanush's 2014 hit outingVelai Illa Pattadhaari (VIP) and since the movie is not an official remake, Wunderbar Films had filed a petition against the makers of the movie.

Passing an order on the same, the Madras High Court has restricted the Mumbai-based Pranita Pawar Productions from releasing the movie (though it is unclear whether or not the movie had already released in 2016) and has instructed them to hand over all the materials and financial accounts related to the film to Wunderbar Films. The issue we hear became this serious after it was found the makers of Majha Naav Shivaji had even copied two songs of Anirudh's compositions from the movie and failed to respond to a private legal notice.
