PIL demanding Rs. 30 crore filed against team Sarkar: Madras HC orders Vijay, A.R. Murugadoss & Sun Pictures to respond!

The attention over Vijay smoking a cigarette in the now-retracted first look poster of Sarkar seems to be in no mood to die, for the Madras High Court on Monday issued an order to Vijay (lead), A.R. Murugadoss (director) and Sun Pictures (producer) to respond to a Public Interest Litigation demanding that each of them pay Rs. 10 crore (total amounting to Rs. 30 crore) as a compensation for depicting smoking on their poster. Reportedly the PIL was filed by an advocate named  Cyril Alexander, who is also a tobacco control activist.

The fine amount has been asked to be paid to the cancer treatment center at the Government Royapettah Hospital in Chennai and the High court has also directed the government to respond to the order.
