Vijay's Sarkar goes to USA, accused of using cigarette as a marketing strategy!

Much has been happening around the title reveal and first look poster release of Vijay's upcoming film with director A.R. MurugadossSakar. On one hand the first look poster of the film came under fire for the use of a cigarette in it and as reported yesterday, former Union minister and flag-bearer of anti-smoking Anbumani Ramadoss publicly criticized the team. Added to this, the  Tamil Nadu People's Forum for Tobacco Control issued a statement on Friday that accused actor Vijay and team Sarkar of using the cigarette ploy as a marketing strategy. An statement from the forum read,

"The poster violates Section 5 of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) which prohibits display of tobacco products or their use in promos and posters of films... Actor Vijay has been portrayed with tobacco products earlier too and  he has continued to use tobacco for this film's promotion. When confronted, he and his team will immediately apologize. This is a marketing strategy adopted by Vijay "

On the other hand, the team is all set for an USA schedule which is expected to take place next month i.e. July, 2018. Apparently, the team will be seen shooting for an intro song at Las Vegas, the party city in Nevada, USA and the song is expected to be a visual affair. Also starring Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar among others, Sarkar is produced by Sun Pictures and has AR Rahman for music. The film will hit theatre screens for Diwali this year.
