Santhosh Narayanan has addressed the question of why he is not composing music for Arasan, the Silambarasan-Vetri Maaran film set in the Vada Chennai universe, despite having scored the original. Speaking on Irfan's View, the composer said he never dwells on such decisions, understanding the complex realities of filmmaking.

"When you're trying to put a film together and complete it, you have no idea how much a director has to go through. I never think or ask, 'Why didn't they work with me?' I've never looked at it that way," he said, citing composer changes across Karthik Subbaraj's films as an example of how such shifts are commonplace in the industry.

Santhosh also had warm words for Vada Chennai, saying the film and its overall vibe are "truly special" and that being associated with it inspires him to do better work.

Arasan, directed by Vetri Maaran with music by Anirudh, stars Silambarasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Andrea Jeremiah and others, targeting a Deepavali release under V Creations.
