Aligning with our previous report that Dhanush's upcoming bilingual Vaathi/Sir is headed for a December release, the theatrical release date of the movie has been officially announced as December 2, 2022. Vaathi/Sir is produced by Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, Srikara Studios and is a directorial venture of Tollywood's Venky Atluri of Tholi Prema (2018), Mr Majnu (2019) and Rang De (2021) fame.

The film also stars Samyuktha Menon, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Thotapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, Hyper Aadhi, Shara, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, Motta Rajendran, Hareesh Peradi, Praveena among others and has GV Prakash for music. 

Dhanush plays a junior lecturer named Balamurugan (Tamil) / Bala Gangadhar Tilak (Telugu), who stands against the institutes indulging in the commercialization of education.
