Amid speculation that Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was leaked through the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has officially dismissed the claims.
Sharing a statement, PIB said, “Reports claiming that the Tamil film Jana Nayagan was leaked from the CBFC are baseless and misleading.” It further clarified that the board follows a secure KDM (Key Delivery Message) system, where access to the film is password-protected and remains solely with the producer or filmmaker.
The statement added that the film’s Digital Cinema Package (DCP) was handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on March 17 with due acknowledgement and has remained with them since. “Without a valid KDM, the film cannot be accessed or viewed,” PIB noted, ruling out the possibility of a leak from CBFC’s end.

The clarification comes after widespread rumours linking the censor board to the leak, with some even alleging deliberate intent. However, neither Vijay nor the film’s producer KVN Productions has blamed CBFC so far.
Meanwhile, the makers have issued a legal notice warning strict action against those circulating the leaked content and have initiated forensic investigations to trace the source of the leak.
