Director-actor Ameer has reacted to the leak of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, criticising the film’s alleged portrayal of Muslims.

Taking to his WhatsApp status, Ameer questioned, “Even in the leaked footage of Jana Nayagan, are Muslims still terrorists? Is this your politics? When will this mindset change?” 

His remarks drew backlash on social media, with users pointing out the ethics of commenting on content accessed through piracy.

Ameer had earlier criticised the delay in the film’s release, questioning the Central Board of Film Certification’s decision to re-evaluate it. He has also been vocal about Vijay’s recent public appearances amid his personal developments. 

Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, has been at the centre of controversy following its leak online and ongoing censor-related delays.
