Maari Thara Local – No one would expect a song that gets into the groove right as it starts. Pushed into play right away, Anirudh and Dhanush go on a rampage that is sure to break dance floors. Highly energetic number with no breathing space. With a very rudimentary ‘kuthu’ setup, the orchestration carries the song with the right amount of weight required. This number is exactly what you are here for. Raw fun.

Oru Vidha Asai

Anirudh comes up with a surprise of a track, that takes one back to retro pop funk of the ‘80s. This is the closest the young composer has ever come to experimenting, and he doesn’t disappoint. Might not hold a repeat value, but is worth a hear for the difference that it brings to Anirudh’s repertoire.

Don’u Don’u Don’u

Working on the base tune of the title track, Anirudh and Alisha Thomas give a totally unpredictable romance track that is strikingly groovy. But, the song has a strong amateurish feel to it. 

Bagulu Odayum Dagulu Mari

With uncanny lyrics and a freakish tempo, this is an exciting theme track that should work with appropriate visuals.

Thappa Dhaan Theriyum

This is where Anirudh lets his trademark be seen in ample amounts. Dhanush’s straight-forward vocals are complimented by the presence of Chinna Ponnu. There’s a deja-vu feel throughout, be it in the interludes or chorus. Has traces of the title track again, keeping the mood of the album constant.

Anirudh Ravichander capitalizes on a single track’s energy and carries it forward throughout the album. Right when he was slipping into a monotonous zone, he decides to serve the director’s subjective demands. On the whole, Maari provides absolute fun, but will be a little disappointment, if you compare this album with previous albums of Dhanush and Anirudh.
