Reliance to produce Shankar Rajni Endhiran 2?

Rajinikanth's Endhiran, directed by Shankar, was one of the biggest blockbusters in Tamil cinema which rocked at the box-office worldwide. The film released in 2010. There has been news now and then about a prospective sequel to this film.

Shankar and Rajnikanth have been in discussion for making a sequel to Endhiran for quite some time. The word is that Shankar narrated the story outline of Endhiran2 to Rajnikanth and got it approved. Unfortunately there has been no takers for this potential project due its high budget proposal. The entire budget of the movie that Shankar conservatively estimated was a grand total of Rs.200 Crores.

AGS Entertainment was initially approached to produce this big budget extravaganza. The production house however was not willing to take a huge risk by investing in this project after analysing the current market trends. A number of discussions have been happening between Shankar, Rajni and other producers regarding the budget and feasibility.

The latest buzz is that Reliance Entertainment is keen on funding this project. However Eros International also has a 3 movie contract with Rajini. After Kochadaiyaan's outcome and drastic changes to Eros' production team in Tamil, Reliance is rumoured to take over this project. If all goes well, the project will go on floors in January 2015 after Rajni and Shankar are done with their respective films Lingaa and Ai.
