Jiiva's upcoming film with director Ra Venkat has been titled Thagappan, with the first look poster revealed as the film went on floors in Madurai on Monday. The poster features Karuppusamy prominently against a red background, drawing an immediate connection to the deity's visual identity as seen in Suriya's recent blockbuster Karuppu. The makers also visited a Karuppusamy temple before commencing production.

Thagappan stars Jiiva alongside Rajisha Vijayan and Lakshmy Ramakrishnan in key roles. The film is backed by Lark Studios, the banner behind Garudan and Maaman, with cinematography by M Sukumar and editing by Nagooran Ramachandran.

Ra Venkat made his mark with the critically acclaimed Kida, a deeply emotional story of a grandfather fulfilling his grandson's Diwali wish. Thagappan marks his reunion with Jiiva and promises to carry a similar emotional sensibility.
