The trailer for Dhanush's Kara is here and it hits hard. Directed by Por Thozhil fame Vignesh Raja, the action drama is set against the backdrop of the 1991 Gulf War fuel crisis that crippled Tamil Nadu, and releases in theatres on April 30.

Karasaami aka Kara (Dhanush) is a reformed robber forced back into his old ways as the fuel shortage pushes him to the edge. Hot on his trail is Bharathan (Suraj Venjaramoodu), a determined cop piecing together a string of bank robberies. With those around him questioning his redemption, Kara finds himself fighting battles on every front.

The cast includes Mamitha Baiju as Selli, Jayaram as Muthu Selvan, KS Ravikumar as Kandhasaami, Karunaas as Kasi Maayan, Sreeja Ravi as Dhanam, and Prithvi Pandiarajan as Murugesan.

National Award winner MS Bhaskar also features in an undisclosed role. GV Prakash Kumar scores the music, with Dhanush himself among the lyricists alongside Yuga Bharathi, Uma Devi, Arunraja Kamaraj, Karthik Netha, and Arivu. Theni Eswar handles cinematography, Sreejith Sarang edits, and Dinesh Kasi choreographs the action. Ishari K Ganesh produces under Vels Film International.
