Vadivelu to Play Unique Role in Fahadh Faasil's Maareesan

Fahadh Faasil recently opened up about his upcoming Tamil film Maareesan, revealing that the project was initially planned as a Malayalam film. However, it shifted to Tamil because Fahadh wanted Vadivelu in a key role.

Fahadh said, “I first heard Maareesan as a Malayalam script. But when casting began, I felt only Vadivelu sir could do this role. The producer, being from Tamil cinema, suggested making it in Tamil. I agreed—only if Vadivelu was part of it.”

Fahadh shared that Vadivelu wanted to do his usual comedy, but Maareesan shows him in a different shade. Director Sudheesh Sankar added that the film has situational humor, not Vadivelu’s typical wordplay-heavy comedy.
