A supposed synopsis of Tamil film Coolie has cropped up on Letterboxd, a famous social media platform for film lovers both casual and cinephiles. Coolie starring Rajinikanth in the lead is scheduled to release in theaters worldwide on August 14, 2025, and Coolie's plot on Letterboxd reads, 

"An ageing gold smuggler uses stolen tech hidden in vintage golden watches to revive his old mafia crew. But his plan to reclaim his empire spirals into something bigger, a new universe forged from crime, greed, and broken time."

While gold is definitely a constantly hinted theme in Lokesh Kanagaraj directed Coolie,—be it with gold being the only colour in the black and white character posters of Coolie, or Rajinikanth's 'Deva' character holding a porter badge with the number 1421, theorized to represent 14Kt and 21Kt gold, it is yet to be confirmed if the Letterboxd story is the actual Coolie story. 

A Sun Pictures production, Coolie also stars Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruthi Haasan, Sathyaraj, Pooja Hegde among others. Coolie's technical crew includes Anirudh Ravichander for music, Girish Gangadharan for cinematography, and Philomin Raj for edits.
