Actor Jayam Ravi has been confirmed to play villain in the Sudha Kongara directed Purananooru, which will star actor Sivkarthikeyan in the lead. Actors Atharvaa, Sreeleela are also buzzed to be part of Purananooru's cast, while an official confirmation on the same awaits.

Purananooru is composer GV Prakash's 100th movie. Set around the 1965 anti-Hindi agitation of Tamil Nadu, Purananooru will showcase the lead actor Sivakarthikeyan as a revolutionary college student.

The movie is expected to be produced by a debutant named Akash Baskaran under the banner Dawn Pictures.
