On Monday, Lyca Productions, the banner behind Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan, officially announced the movie's release date as October 10, 2024. A whole two months in advance, Rajinikanth had unofficially revealed that Vettaiyan's release date is October 10. 

Inbetween, there was a buzz that Vettaiyan release could be pushed to Diwali. Studio Green's KE Gnanavel Raja, one of the producers of Suriya's big budget Kanguva, had also said that Vettaiyan's Diwali release plans is why they fixed Kanguva's release as October 10.  

However, now both Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan and Suriya's Kanguva are releasing the same Thursday. The starry entertainers will also be competing for screens and box-office this Dussehra, 2024.

Vettaiyan directed by TJ Gnanavel, has Anirudh Ravichander for music, and comes with a starry ensemble of Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Abhirami, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, among others. 

Kanguva: A Mighty Valiant Saga is directed by Siva, and is expected to release in standard, 3D, and IMAX formats. Kanguva's stars include Bobby Deol, Disha Patanai, KS Ravikumar, Karunas, Yogi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, among others.
