What has been long buzzed is now officially confirmed by Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Productions. Kanguva, a big budget fantasy entertainer starring Suriya in dual roles, is scheduled to release in theaters on October 10, 2024, marking the Dussehra holiday season. Prior to Kanguva release date's official announcement, Rajinikanth had revealed that his film Vettaiyan was also releasing on October 10.

This caused an anticipation of box-office clash between Kanguva and Vettaiyan. However, as reported by MovieCrow before, KE Gnanavel Raja has now confirmed in an interview, that Vettaiyan is releasing for Diwali and not Dussehra, 2024. 

"They (team Vettaiyan) are targetting Diwali...No other film is planned (to release) on October 10, 2024. Emotionally and professionally also, I will not decide to come with (a movie against) Rajini Sir. I dont even visit temples for my own birthday, but for Rajini Sir's birthday I go to Alwarpet temple and do 108 turns there. For my parents' birthday too I go, pray and come but doing a hundred and eight turns I've done only for Rajinikanth sir's birthday.

 

There is an emotional angle and connect to Rajini sir...One hundred percent, we will not clash with Rajini sir (at the box-office) and we have no plans to either. Because that date (October 10) was free, we announced it (as Kanguva's release date). It was also the best date for us since we are aiming PAN India release." - KE Gnanavel Raja to Galatta Plus
