Actor Rajinikanth's upcoming movie Jailer which is all set to release in theaters on August 10, 2023 recently had a trailer release titled Jailer showcase. Among the first impressions of the Jailer trailer was fans noticing a call-back by director Nelson Dilipkumar to Rajinikanth's 1988 movie Dharmathin Thalaivan. 

Dharmathin Thalaivan, also an action-comedy-drama like Jailer was the official remake of 1978 Hindi movie Kasme Vaade starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee [mother of Raazi, Chhapaak's film director Meghna Gulzar], Randhir Kapoor [Karishma, Kareena Kapoor's father] and Neetu Singh [Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor's mother]. 

The Tamil version Dharmathin Thalaivan had one of the two Rajinikanths in the movie uttering this dialogue, "If you come to my home again, there will be no dialogue, just action". This dialogue has been modified and paid tribute to in Jailer, and the showcase had the 2023 Rajini saying, "After a threshold there is no dialogue with me, just action,"

In Dharmathin Thalaivan, Rajinikanth says this dialogue to Prabhu, who plays the brother of the other Rajinikanth in the film. Prabhu and Rajini have maintained cordial and friendly relationship over the years, and quite recently actor Prabhu was asked his opinion on the Superstar title debate, which has spread like wildfire around Jailer.

"My elder brother Rajinikanth is the Superstar. They (the next-in-line for the title) are super actors...What has Rajini sir said, 'I'll be in the same position, Let others also come (to my position)'. He is leaving way for them (to either share the position or surpass but will not leave his spot - editor's note - that he has worked 48 hard years for, and just because the voices in an echo chamber keep asking Rajinikanth to step aside or retire)...Let everyone come.." 

 

Worth mentioning here that actor Prabhu was pounded by the Tamil media cornering him to explicitly state whether actor Vijay was the next Superstar. The veteran skillfully managed with this statement but when still prodded, Prabhu said, "Why just brother Vijay, even brother Ajith is there..You (the media) keep asking questions like this upsetting their fans.."
