On Wednesday, reports were rampant that the long-awaited collaboration between actor Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj is finally showing signs of moving forward. Lokesh who is currently directing Leo with Vijay was said to be meeting Rajini for a narration session, before Leo's next schedule this month. 

MovieCrow learns Lokesh Kanagaraj will be directing Rajinikanth under the Sun Pictures banner. After Jailer, Sun Pictures has signed Rajini for another movie which is expected to be Thalaivar 171. The production house plans on releasing Thalaivar 171 by Diwali, 2024 i.e. between late October and early November that year. An official announcement on the same however awaits. 

Rajini is currently gearing up for the release of Nelson Dhilipkumar directed Jailer on August 11, 2023. He will also be seen in a pivotal role in Lal Salaam - a Lyca Productions venture. Thalaivar 171 is expected to be both Rajini and Lokesh Kanagaraj's next after their current main projects.
