Director Lokesh Kanagaraj who is basking in the success of 'Kaithi' has met Superstar yesterday at his residence. Earlier the 'Managaram' director had met the 'Kaala' actor who has reportedly appreciated him for his work in Kaithi and also expressed his interest to work with him as well. With the duo meeting for the second time yesterday, speculations are rife about the possibility of Lokesh directing Superstar's next film after Thalaivar 168. The discussions are in the nascent stages and nothing has been firmed up yet. 

Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of 'Darbar' directed by AR Murugadoss which is hitting the screens for Pongal 2020. He is all set to begin shooting for 'Thalaivar 168'  to be directed by Siva this month. As reported earlier, Gautham Menon has also narrated a script  to Rajinikanth and Vels Film International is likely to fund the project. 

Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently busy with the shooting of Thalapathy 64 which is slated for Summer 2020 release. The director is also likely to team up with Suriya for a project and has also hinted at a sequel to Kaithi. However an official announcement is awaited to confirm his next project after Thalapathy 64.
