Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) is actor Rajinikanth's next big project after his ongoing Jailer and Lal Salaam, and the film is a Lyca Productions venture. Director TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021), Kootathil Oruthan (2017) fame is helming the movie, and it has Anirudh for music. 

Thalaivar 170 has been officially announced to release in 2024, and latest we hear Rajini will be playing a Muslim police officer in the movie. Rajinikanth has rarely played an Islam character on screen, and his most memorable portrayal was in the 1995 movie Baasha, where 'Maanikam' Rajinikanth assumes his slain Muslim friend's name to become a gangster.

Thalaivar 170 is also said to be based on true incidents.
