Theri was the last Vijay starrer, whose Telugu version Policeodu did not have a simultaneous release with its Tamil version. 6 years later Varisu has joined this list, as it has now been officially announced that the movie's Telugu version Vaarasudu will be releasing on January 14, 2023 instead of January 11, 2023.

About Vaarasudu's postponement, film's producer Dil Raju met with the Telugu media and said, "The main reson to take this decision (of postponing Vaarasudu) is because on January 12 - Veera Simha Reddy starring (Nandamuri) Balakrishna and on January 13 Waltair Veerayya starring Chiranjeevi is releasing. I want first preference for their films in each and every possible theater. Our bigger stars, Telugu stars, need to be given more theaters everywhere. My main intention to postpone my film (Vaarasudu) is because of this. I have mentioned in many interviews that Dil Raju's Vaarasudu is not a competition for Balakakrishna or Chiranjeevi's films...I know my film will let go of many collections that it would have garnered on the first day. I am ready for it...I want every film to be a blockbuster."

Dil Raju who has proven to be loose-lipped around the subject of Thunivu Vs Varisu, recently made yet another unprompted comparison between Ajith and Vijay. When asked why actor Vijay wasn't promoting Vaarasudu in Telugu states, Dil Raju said,

"It's their system in Tamil Nadu. They make just one appearance. Ajith doesn't come for any event or interview or anything else. I will try and bring Vijay on the 14th (to Hyderabad)." 

In the press meet, Dil Raju took a question on the Varisu and Thunivu screen-count in Tamil Nadu, and how he feels about 'politicial theater mafia' resulting in less screens for his film. Dil Raju said, "Its pretty common, day 1 doesn't matter, long run matters."
