Profile, based on the non-fiction book In The Skin of a Jihadist by Anna Erelle is a screenlife thriller film that premiered to critical acclaim at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2018. India has since seen a screenlife movie release titled C U Soon (Malayalam) in 2020 [the country's first], and now the thriller part of Profile directed by Timur Bekmambetov, might be getting a hat-tip with the upcoming Tamil film Raangi.

Raangi starring Trisha in the lead is all set to hit theater screens on December 30, 2022 [Friday]. Just like Profile, the movie's plot is centered around a reporter baiting a terrorist under the guise of a teen. However unlike Profile which was a romance thriller based on true events, Raangi is a full-fledged action movie, and also has an actual teenage girl at the center of its fictional story.
Produced by Lyca Productions, Raangi has story by AR Murugadoss and screenplay, direction by M. Saravanan. It follows Trisha's character Thaiyal Nayagi, an online channel reporter, who finds that a 17 year old boy Aalim from Libya is chatting with her niece on a Facebook account.
Aalim is a shown to be a terrorist in the trailer and the FBI wants to bring him under their custody using Thaiyal Nayagi and her niece as bait. The technical crew of Raangi includes C. Sathya for music, Ka Sakthivel for cinematography and M Subarak for edits. Raangi Sneak Peek & Promo Videos
