So Bad That Its Good!

The audience that I saw the film with was also in a similar frame of mind as myself. Could hear giggling all around. Somebody walking in would have easily mistaken the film for a comedy. And the best part was how everyone actually waited till the end, even as the credits were rolling. This doesnt even happen to the best of films. Nobody wanted to miss out, just in case there was more fun to be had.(more)

Raangi is unexpectedly great and it's a perfect action thriller for the weekend.

Other than that, there's nothing to complain about. The plot also doesn't follow the usual commercial formula of hero vs villain of sorts. The best part is Trisha's performance and she is quite convincing as a mass-female lead. The stunt sequences that she performs is choreographed really well. Both cinematography and background score elevates the film big time and it blends well with the plot. Raangi is unexpectedly great and it's a perfect action thriller for the weekend.(more)

Trisha's film and its beliefs are flawed on so many levels

Trisha has given a decent performance as Thaiyal Nayagi, but it is baffling to see how she agreed to go by so many problematic ideas. In fact, it is surprising to see these ideas making it past the discussions between the direction team. The flawed story cannot be justified by a few good stretches.(more)

Trisha's latest is bafflingly silly and questionable

the film mistakes bold and strong for reckless and silly. While people around Thayyal Nayaki revere her as a brilliant and level-headed woman, her actions only contradict their beliefs. She mindlessly shares her address (with the new and old door numbers) with a terrorist. Also, her idea of romance is just outright juvenile, just like the film, which teems with obnoxiously dumb events. Aalim, the most-wanted terrorist, takes a quick trip to Chennai to meet Sushmitha. The Prime Minister of India orders the killing of one of his ministers to cover up a deal. The FBI agents act like gangsters trying to kill Sushmitha to lure Aalim. The list goes on.(more)
