The big box-office clash between Ajith and Vijay this Pongal, 2023 is not just making waves in Tamil Nadu but is also resonating overseas. Lyca Prodcutions, overseas distributor of Ajith's Thunivu recently confirmed that the movie will premiere in US and UK on January 11, 2022 and updated that the advance bookings for the movie were open in 36 locations in UK.

Ahimsa Entertainment, distributor of Vijay's film also updated that reservations for Varisu, Vaarasudu [Telugu] premiere shows were open in 63, 28 locations (respectively) in the UK. Cineworld, that has opened bookings for both Varisu/Vaarasudu and Thunivu is said to have sold 1373/155 and 208 tickets so far.

While both movies are yet to clear censor back in India, (a pre-requisite for a film's release date to be confirmed in the country) this advance ticket sale stats, along with the fun banter between the film's distributors is keeping fans engaged on social media.
